Keep in large darkened cage to reduce stress
When recovered and no longer receiving treatment they should be moved to a secluded outdoor aviary for exercise and to acclimatise to the weather before release

Extremely sensitive to stress, often sedation needed to examine or treat
Handle in darkened room
Pheasants strong birds, hold firmly round the shoulders to prevent wings flapping

Care – male pheasants have sharp spurs; restrain legs
